razielimIt would be interesting to see what portion of fandom Great Writers do anon kink memes compared to everyone else. And what portion of anon kink meme fillers go on to become Great Writers. etc etc
I always read the introduction to classics because they give so much historical and biographical context and this Checkov bio and his transition from happy-go-lucky short story pseudonym writer just trying to pay his bills in med school to getting creative blocks and trying to take himself more seriously once he started being published under his own name, once he accepted becoming a writer rather than a doctor, is making me think.
Interesting information, and this isn't from the book but something I read last night when looking up writers which Russian and Ukraine have each claimed as their own (also: Bulgakov, Gogol), that neither Russia nor the Ukraine wanted to pay for upkeeping his dilapidated estate in Crimea? Typical. Yet each claim him for their own. (I'm siding with Ukraine because that's the mood.)
Finally, I always love and hate that point of perfect drunkenness when I rediscover the sublime sensitivity of my lips. A perfect state, but I feel like a madman attempting to make out with myself while I'm trying to fucking read.

I figure if failfandomanon can still have so much activity, surely all the hornies are still at it? I have no idea how to define a Great Writer, haha. I DID however write this not long after reading a long tumblr thread on the topic of "Why are all the Greatest Fandom Writers also into Hockey RPF?" so I supposed I was primed to consider Great Writer to be a valid category. Someone out there. The elusive unicorn. Legend has it that a pure maiden with a filthy, dirty, NASTY mind will be able to lure such a creature to her fandom.
